The IAFL has reserved a limited number of rooms for the nights of 5 – 9 September 2023 inclusive at The Ritz-Carlton, Santiago, Chile. If you plan to arrive earlier or leave later, the hotel has agreed, subject to availability, to offer the IAFL rate 2 days pre and post the event dates. The below rates apply, subject to availability, to reservations made via Judy Lane ICS (official accommodation agent) prior to 4 August. A credit card will be required to confirm your reservation and must not expire prior to 10 September 2023. Please do not contact the hotel direct to make your reservation. Rates quoted are per room per night in US Dollars, inclusive of breakfast, exclusive of tax (currently 19%):

Booking Terms and Conditions

Advance Deposit
From 4 August 2023 the hotel will make a non-refundable charge of one night’s room rate, plus tax, to the credit card you have provided with this booking form.

Cancellation/Amendment of your Booking
You may cancel or amend your booking by emailing IAFL@judylaneics.com. Our policy is to respond, confirming receipt of your cancellation/amendment, within 48 hours. If not received, please telephone Michele Williams +44 1327 858216 (UK).

Penalties (for cancellation/reduction in room nights)
Up until 3 August 2023: no penalty
From 4 August: full-stay penalty (plus tax)
The full-stay penalty will also apply to no-shows (non-arrival on the day of your booking).
Where penalties are due, the hotel will charge the credit card you have provided with this booking form.

Meeting Program

The Education Program will take place on the mornings of Thursday 7 September, Friday 8 and Saturday 9 September. The morning of Saturday 9 September will include the Audrey Ducroux Lecture and the IAFL 2023 AGM.

Tours & Excursions

The following tours and excursions have been arranged for Fellows and accompanying guests.  Please sign up for those of your choice via the registration form. For a detailed description of each event please download the social program. 

Tuesday 5 September 
Full day ski tour to Valle Nevado (9.00 -5.30pm) Valle Nevado, the largest ski center in South America, located 46km east of Santiago de Chile, offers excellent ski conditions.  This tour includes transportation and an English-speaking guide. Cost: US$75 per person. Please note ski hire and ski day pass can be purchased on arrival.

Wednesday 6 September 
Morning: Cookery class at "Flor de Cocina" (9.00-12.30 pm)  The owners of Flor de Cocina will share their great passion for their Kitchen and the Orchard.  You will have the opportunity to tour and inspect the gardens and harvest ingredients that you will use during the cookery class. Cost: US$200 per person includes transport, English speaking guide, cookery class and tasting. 

Afternoon: Santiago Guided City Tour (3.00-5.30 pm)  Discover Chile’s capital city where colonial buildings meet modern architecture. The tour starts downtown on the Alameda, an attractive main street with landmark buildings such as the University of Chile,  the San Francisco Church and the Santa Lucia Hill where the foundations of Santiago were first laid in 1541. The tour will continue towards the Plaza de Armas and include a visit to the Lastarria district where art deco meets La Belle Epoque.  The tour ends with a cocktail at Quitral  Restaurant.  Cost:US$75 per person includes transportation, English speaking guide

Welcome Reception and Dinner at The Ritz Carlton Hotel, Santiago (6.30-10.00pm)  Cost included in the registration fee. 

Thursday 7 September 
Morning: Education program for Lawyers

Morning: Shopping Tour (9.30-12.30pm)  Visit some of Santiago’s most exclusive shopping destinations. If you like jewellery, bear in mind that Chile is one of only a few countries in the world where you can find the semi-precious stone, Lapis Lazuli. The tour will also include a visit to Blue Stone and Kuna for alpaca goods and a visit to the iconic Beppo Café. Cost:US$75 per person includes transportation, English speaking guide, drink and light brunch at Beppo Café. 

Buffet Lunch for all at The Ritz Carlton Hotel, Santiago (1.00 - 2.00pm)  Cost included in the registration fee.  

Afternoon: Pre-Columbian Museum and Supreme Court (2.00-5.00pm) We will visit the Museo Chileno de Arte Precolombino, is a jewel among the world’s museums and a highlight of any trip to Chile. Widely regarded as one of the best museums in Latin America, this unique establishment houses an impressive collection of artefacts from ancient Central and South America.

The Palacio de los Tribunales de Justicia de Santiago is the home of the Supreme Court of Chile, the Court of Appeals of Santiago, and the Court-martial Court of the Chilean Army, Chilean Air Force and Carabineros de Chile. Occupying an impressive amount of real estate in front of Compañía Street. The building diagonally faces the Palacio de la Real Aduana, which is home to the Museo Chileno de Arte Precolombino, Cost:US$100 per person includes transportation, English speaking guide, entry to the Museum and headsets. 

Happy Hour at The Ritz Carlton Hotel, Santiago (6.30-7.15pm)  Cost included in the registration fee.  

Evening: Dinner at Restaurant La Cabrera for First Timer Fellows and IAFL Executive Committee (7.30-9.30pm)  La Cabrera restaurant is one of the most renowned steakhouses in Santiago de Chile, recognized for four years in a row as one of the best restaurants in Latin America according to the '50 Best list'.  La Cabrera offers some of the best meat in the city. Cost: US$150 per person includes aperitif on arrival, 3 course meal with wine.

Friday 8 September

Morning: Education program for Lawyers

Morning: Guided Market Tour (09.30-11.30am)   Barrio Italia is a neighborhood of old buildings, where immigrant artisans from different countries lived, particularly the Italians.  It is a recognized neighbourhood of the Chilean capital that is as famous for its diverse gastronomic offering as it is for its attractive independent shops and artisan workshops.  We will also visit the popular Vega Italia market where locals stock up on fruits and vegetables. Cost: US$50 per person includes transportation and English speaking guide. 

Afternoon and Evening: Santa Rita Winery Tour: Tasting, Andean Museum and dinner at Doña Paula restaurant (2.00-9.00pm)  Immerse yourself in the wine world at the Santa Rita Winery. Founded in 1880, the finest French vines were introduced here. Travel back in time as you visit the manor, explore the wine cellars, and learn about the winemaking processes. Taste some of the country’s finest wines as you indulge in gourmet dishes at the winery’s restaurant La Casona de Doña Paula.  Visit to the Alto Jahuel Andean Museum to see a private collection that includes pre-Colombian objects. Cost: US$250 per person.

Saturday 9 September

Morning: Education program for Lawyers

Afternoon: Los Dominicos and Bicentennial Park Tour (1.00-4.30 pm)  The tour will start with lunch at Mestizo Restaurant, a highly rated restaurant overlooking the lake at the Parque Bicentenario.  Mestizo is a popular destination for those wishing to enjoy gourmet Chilean dishes.  Located on the banks of the Mapocho River, the Parque Bicentenario has a large lagoon with flamingos, black-necked swans and Koi fish swimming among lotus plants. Our next stop is located in Las Condes district where after visiting the cathedral of San Vicente Ferrer, we will browse through the colourful workshops and stalls in the market El Pueblito Los Dominicos.  Here you will see many artisans at work crafting wonderful objects and trinkets using copper, wool, ceramics, lapis lazuli and many other local materials. Cost: US$180 per person includes lunch, transportation, English speaking guide and headsets. 

Evening: President’s Dinner for all - Club de la Unión (7.30-12.00am  Founded on July 8, 1864, the Club de la Unión was founded as a meeting place for conservative and liberal groups of the country, both for debate and for social and political meetings. Its current headquarters was designed by the architect Alberto Cruz Montt and was built in 1925 under the presidency of Don Luis Barros Borgoño.  It was declared a Historic Monument in 1981. The Club de la Unión is characterized by its marked French style of the early twentieth century. The harmony and elegance of its infrastructure make it one of the most beautiful buildings in Chile. Cost: US$265 per person includes transportation, aperitif, canapes, 3 course dinner, post-dinner entertainment and drinks.

Use of Delegate Data

IAFL uses conference booking and hotel booking data to answer queries, to manage and to process all registrations, to organise all social functions and to keep you updated about meeting arrangements. IAFL will not share conference booking and hotel data with anyone outside of the organisation except where necessary to deliver our services.

Photographs taken at IAFL meetings are shared with Fellows through the members area of our website. Photographs of speakers may also be used on IAFL’s website and social media. Any Fellow, Lawyer Delegate or Guest who does not wish us to share photographs should make IAFL aware by emailing: iafl@judylaneics.com. Registration Cancellation 

Registration cancellations received in writing to iafl@judylaneics.com will be accepted until 31 July 2023 and fees refunded, less a USD 100.00 administrative fee per person. This includes social event and tour fees, but only if the Academy is not responsible for any charges or fees due to the cancellation.

Cancellations received after 31 July 2023 will not be refunded, however transfer of your registration to another person is acceptable, up to the date of the event. Please email iafl@judylaneics.com. No refunds will be made for non-attendance at the Meeting.

If in the unlikely event the Meeting is cancelled, any travel and accommodation costs will not be refunded.
