Postponement of International Society of Family Law 17th World Conference
Safeguarding the Human Rights of Family Members from the Womb to the Tomb.
It is with great regret that the Executive Council of the International Society of Family Law and the Conference Organizing Committee for the 17th ISFL World Conference announce the postponement of our 17th ISFL World Conference, scheduled for July 14- 18, 2020, at Hilton Barbados Resort.
We have been observing with increasing alarm the havoc being wrought by this coronavirus, COVID-19, as it ploughed its way through all the world, leaving in its wake a trail of thousands of casualties. It is a situation that we could not have imagined a few months ago. In the face of the evidence before us: the risk to health and even the very lives of our participants by the exponential increase in the spread of the disease, the closing by States of their borders, the restrictions on travel being placed on staff by their institutions and, on citizens, by their governments, a review of the status of our conference was inevitable. Having regard to the prevailing circumstances, the advanced state of our preparations, the continued support and unwavering enthusiasm of intended participants, the decision to postpone, rather than outright cancellation, was made. The new dates are July 20 -23, 2021. Hilton Barbados Resort will honour the same rates as previously agreed.
Thank you for your support, understanding, encouragement and infinite patience, despite the resultant inconvenience occasioned by the change in the dates.
These challenging times bring an opportunity for a bigger and better conference. We pray for your health and safety and that of your families and look forward to seeing you in Barbados in 2021.
