IAML Press Release: Pakistani Stoning

PRESS RELEASE

May 28, 2014
New York, New York, USA

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

RE:  Experts on Forced Marriage available for media interviews.  Farzana Parveen - Pakistani woman stoned to death for marrying the man she loves.

At the International Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers (IAML) conference in New York City, President Cheryl Lynn Hepfer stated:

"We, as a global organization of Family Lawyers that upholds family and human rights, express our shock and concern at this appalling crime, where a woman was killed by her own family.  This "honor killing" is even more heinous because it took place in a country where the rule of law is held in such high regard."

"Our mission of the IAML is to do all that we can to educate, and when necessary, to litigate, to ensure that such human rights violations cease."

IAML is a worldwide association of practicing lawyers who are recognized by their peers as the most experienced and skilled family law specialists in their respective countries.  IAML was formed in 1986 to improve the practice of law and administration of justice in the area of family law throughout the world.   We have qualified and experienced experts who can shed light on this worldwide problem including relevant facts, current and past examples, and what can be done to prevent future tragedies.
