I am a lawyer practicing family law for over 24 years, having started my practice at the law firm of my professor of family and succession law, Sousa Machado, subsequently working independently in the area of family and children's law. I was recently nominated as a Best Lawyer on the directory Best Lawyers, in the area of Family Law. I am also vice president of the Association of Family and Children Lawyers (AAFC). I coordinate the family law area at Morais Leitao, one of the most reputed Portuguese law firms. I have advised on divorces of Portuguese and foreigners, children and youth at risk, Portuguese and foreigners, recognition of court decisions issued by European and non-European countries and international kidnapping of minors, both civil and criminal. Recently, I have also been advising, on a pro bono basis, cases of protection and promotion of children at risk resulting from rights of refugees either from Afghanistan or Ukraine who are in Portuguese territory.
