Profile

Born on the French Caribbean island of Saint Martin, Alex Payne was raised in a multilingual environment and educated in French, Spanish, and Papiamento before moving to the United States. He earned his undergraduate degree from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, and his Juris Doctor from George Mason University School of Law.

Alex began his legal career in criminal law in Virginia, including appellate matters, before returning to California to practice complex civil litigation involving employment, construction, and international disputes. He now limits his practice to family law at Minyard Morris in Orange County, California, where he serves as Assistant Managing Partner.

Alex represents clients in sophisticated domestic and cross-border matters involving business valuation, income determination, custody, and appellate litigation. He frequently works with forensic experts and has argued before the California Court of Appeal.

He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers and an active leader in several bar and nonprofit organizations.
