Posted: 19 Mar 2026
We are delighted to be partnering again with the EALS (East Africa Law Society) for a webinar on, “Perspectives on Adoption- Regional Challenges and Emerging Opportunities”. This webinar featured presentations from Fellows Patricia Mundia (Kenya) and Hon. Justice Mumbua T Matheka MBS from Kenya, Dr Joseph Yav Katshung (Democratic Republic of the Congo) and Jemma Dally (England and Wales). The panellists were joined by Dr Harriet Diana Musoke SC from Uganda, IAFL Early Career Award Winner, Nadege Nsengiyumva Iriho, Advocate of the Republic of Rwanda, of the EALS Secretariat and Immediate Past President, Rachael Kelsey from Scotland. The panel was joined by over 140 lawyers from across East Africa, with consideration given to the differences in domestic regimes, particularly as between civil and common law jurisdictions, the challenges that exist in relation to recognition of adoption across borders and prevention of child trafficking.
In 2025 we worked together with the EALS to deliver two symposia in Nairobi, firstly for Kenyan Law Students at Riara University exploring the future of family law, and then for local lawyers, academics, members of the judiciary and civil society organisations, on International Family Law. We look forward to developing and strengthening our relationship with EALS, the Bar Association for East Africa, with more than 42,000 members across 8 jurisdictions in the region.
