IAML European Chapter Delegates Visit Brussels
On 9 April 2013 European Chapter President Alfred Kriegler together with Mia Reich Sjögren, Vice President, and David Salter, Immediate Past President, visited Brussels to meet officials of the European Parliament. Our delegation was received by Othmar Karas, Vice President, Alexandra Thein HEP, Dr Eva Lichtenberger MEP as well as Markus Zalewski, Legislative Officer for Civil Justice Policy in the European Commission and Michael Shotter, Legal Advisor to Vice President Viviane Reading, Commissioner for Justice, Fundamental Rights and Citizenship. Our delegation was able to explain to our hosts the role of IAML in International Family Law. A good number of useful ideas were exchanged, which include assistance with the recruitment of Fellows in unrepresented or under-represented jurisdictions within Europe, speakers for future meetings and even the possibility of EU funding for our educational programmes.
