Irene King is an experienced Collaborative Divorce attorney, NC Board Certified Specialist in Family Law and Certified Mediator. Irene’s passion for Collaborative work began after a significant shift in her career. For the first decade of her over 20-year career, Irene litigated high-conflict child custody cases, international child abduction cases arising under the Hague Convention, and other family law disputes. Her perspective dramatically changed when she personally experienced the devastating effects of a traditional litigated divorce. After a 45-year marriage, her parents divorced, and Irene, as an adult daughter, found herself deeply embroiled in the ensuing emotional turmoil. This life-altering experience motivated Irene to close the adversarial courtroom door forever. In 2015, she founded King Collaborative Family Law, where she passionately guides clients through out-of-court resolutions, and is recognized by her peers as one of the most experienced Collaborative Divorce attorneys in the state and a highly accomplished, empathic mediator.
