I am the founding partner of Elham Ali Hassan & Associates, a leading general practice law firm based in Bahrain since 1992. Given the small geographical size of Bahrain, I have acquired a special interest in family matter from the very beginning of my practice. Family law matters in Bahrain are heard by both Sharia courts when the parties or one of them is Muslim, and by the high civil court, when the parties are non-Muslim. The family cases I handle at present are mostly for non-Muslim clients who are multi-nationals in most of the cases. Handling such cases exposed me to family laws and courts in various jurisdictions, which added a wealth of experience and information to my practice of family law matters. When Bahrain intended to lay down the family law, a committee was formed by an order of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. I had the honor to be a member of that committee.
