Lori A. Buiteweg is an experienced family law attorney with a vibrant practice reflective of her high energy level. Her listening skills, shrewdness, and wry sense of humor endear her to clients and colleagues. Determined when possible to achieve justice through alternative dispute resolution mechanisms like mediation and Collaborative Law, she is at home in the courtroom and does not shy from litigation when necessary, Ms. Buiteweg prepares her clients and cases with meticulous care. She enjoys making use of technological advances in the practice of law. Intent upon raising the bar for the legal profession in Michigan, she has served on many boards and committees, from chair of the local young lawyers many years ago to President of the 46,000-member State Bar of Michigan in 2015-16. Lori enjoys being the wife of a regulatory compliance attorney, two adult sons working on advanced degrees (one in law), gardening, cooking, and traveling.
