Carolina Marín Pedreño awarded place on US International Visitor Leadership Programme

The USA Department of State has awarded IAML UK Fellow Carolina Marín Pedreño a place on the 2016 International Visitor Leadership Programme (IVLP). She has specifically been appointed to the Multi-Regional Project ‘Children in the U.S. Justice System’.
Carolina was nominated for this prestigious position by the USA Embassy in London. As part and parcel of this she will be visiting Washington and other cities in the USA from 11th January to 1st February 2016.
The scheme is run by the Cultural Affairs Team of the State Department.
A brief outline of the project is:-
‘Protecting vulnerable citizens, especially children, is one of the primary duties of government. This project will examine the rights and welfare of children as well as the juvenile justice system in the United States. Participants will explore family law and custody issues, including the Hague Abduction Convention. The project will provide opportunities to compare best practices in advocacy and protection of children as well as constructive approaches to addressing and rehabilitating juvenile offenders’.
