To advance and promote the better understanding and practice of dispute resolution processes in family law in its many forms across jurisdictions and internationally, with particular emphasis on mediation and arbitration. IAFL Forced Marriage Committee
The IAFL Forced Marriage Committee shares knowledge on laws in different jurisdictions regarding forced marriage and seeks to assist groups/governmental entities in the passing of the laws that help prevent forced marriage. The Committee also assists victims by referring them to lawyers and organisations who work in this area. The officers of the Committee 2024-2025 are:IAFL 1980 Hague Convention Committee
To increase information and idea sharing between practitioners from across the globe to harmonize the practice and ultimately the jurisprudence of 1980 Hague cases. To gather information from the best international family lawyers in the world with the goal of sharing that information with the HCCH and other organizations so as to illustrate the real work application of Hague legal principles and concepts.IAFL Judicial Fellows Network
The Judicial Fellows Network was formed in 2025 with the aim of developing and expanding the network of judges within the IAFL, for the mutual benefit of judicial fellows and the IAFL and in furtherance of the objectives of the IAFL. The co-chairs of the Network are:
IAFL Parentage Committee
The committee shall focus on the interests of children in accordance with international children’s rights standards with special reference to those children who are born through assisted reproductive technology including donor conception and surrogacy with particular reference to the private international law rules regarding the legal status of children in cross border situations. Established in 2024, the IAFL Pro Bono Committee seeks to share information about pro bono needs and provision in different jurisdictions; to provide a database of fellows willing to act pro bono; to champion pro bono initiatives, in particular local initiatives, at IAFL meetings, including the Introduction to International Family Law events aimed at future IAFL fellows. The Communications with Fellows Committee aims to enhance consistent and meaningful engagement within the International Academy of Family Lawyers. Our mission is to connect new and existing Fellows by sharing relevant and timely information, promoting Academy initiatives and events, and highlighting Fellows' achievements. We facilitate collaboration through diverse platforms, including social media, and oversee the IAFL Buddy Program to support new Fellows' integration.
